Leadership, Change, and High‑Trust Conversations

By: Robert Avsec, Executive Fire Officer

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with Chris Voss for an in‑depth conversation about leadership, organizational change, and what it really takes to lead people through uncertainty in a Fire and EMS environment.

In this interview, we explored themes from my book, Successful Transformational Change in a Fire and EMS Department: How a Focused Team Created a Revenue Recovery Program in Six Months–From Scratch, including:

  • Why transformational change in Fire and EMS is ultimately about people, not processes
  • The role of trust, communication, and emotional intelligence in leading under pressure
  • What leaders must do differently to move an organization from “the way we’ve always done it” to what’s needed next

If you’re a leader in your organization–doesn’t have to be the fire service, EMS, or public‑sector–facing complex change or preparing your organization for the future—I think you’ll find this conversation both practical and thought‑provoking. That was the main theme that Chris uncovered during the interview–it’s a real story about how a radical change can take place in ANY organization

Thank you, @ChrisVossShow for this wonderful opportunity!
