So, what is this piece of kit [equipment] that has people in emergency services talking? It’s the RESCUER from Rigloo! The RESCUER is a lightweight, rapidly deployable shelter that can be set up in a matter of minutes to protect victims and their emergency care providers (e.g., EMTs, paramedics, firefighters, SAR technicians) from the elements—and prying eyes!

What emergency caregiver hasn’t “struggled” to provide protection from the environment (e.g., heat, cold, precipitation) while rendering emergency care to an injured casualty? A bothy bag or a tarp or a pole tent are some of the ad hoc solutions used, but they are just that: “off-the-cuff” solutions using tools that were designed for other functions, primarily recreational pursuits (e.g., camping or hiking).
The RESCUER from Rigloo is the first and highly portable emergency shelter that’s been designed specifically for emergency care givers to use in any environment. The RESCUER’s detachable floor, vents for airflow, mosquito nets, its construction material with SPF 30 for sun protection, and most importantly the space it provides, provides comfort and stress reduction to both the casualty and emergency caregiver.
The RESCUER is supported by a TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane resin) airframe that’s wrapped in a protective sleeve. When inflated, the frame is super strong enabling caregivers to hang IV bags and portable lighting from connectors while providing protection from wind, rain, or winter precipitation (And it can withstand the prop-wash of a decent size helicopter!).
The RESCUER’s design features a zipped entrance at either end with a door that can be rolled up and securely tied if necessary. An easily detachable floor gives you the capability to place the RESCUER over your casualty without having to move them!
PROTECTION FROM PRYING EYES
Common wisdom today holds that every person with a smart phone is a “journalist.” When tragedy strikes, it’s more likely that people in the area are pulling out their phone to start recording video than they are to make phone calls for emergency services. And they get those videos posted to social media platforms with astonishing speed!
The RESCUER provides emergency caregivers with a safe, effective, and efficient tool for them to use to protect their casualty’s privacy and allow them to provide the appropriate casualty care without the fear that a video of their actions will get posted on social media and potentially be taken out of context.

After use, the emergency caregivers can deflate the RESCUER in seconds, roll it up, and take it back to the station, where it can be properly cleaned and decontaminated before placing it back in the bag (The RESCUER is constructed using Polyester Ripstop® 210T so you can safely use your organization’s approved cleaning agents without damaging the RESCUER).
