Investors looking for the “next big thing”

Are you an investor who’s looking for the “next big thing?” Well, if that’s you and you want to invest in a new product that’s not only going to “go places” but helps firefighters and emergency medical services providers do their job more safely, effectively, and efficiently, then read on!

As a retired fire department battalion chief who’s been “plying” my trade as a freelance writer in my 2nd career, I’ve had the opportunity to research and write articles on more than one hundred fire and EMS products and equipment. I’m frequently amazed at what I learn and just as frequently I find myself asking myself “Self, why didn’t you think of that?”

The RIGLOO is big enough (1.6m (5-ft.) x 1.6m (5-ft.) x 2.6m (8.5-ft.) to accommodate and protect an adult patient while providing ample working space for their caregivers and their medical equipment (That’s 6.6 cubic m (212 cubic ft. of interior space!).

Well, the latest bit of “self-talk” happened when I was contacted by a LinkedIn connection, Raymond “Raymie Rodgers,” telling me about his innovative product for the fire and EMS world, the RESCUER. Rodgers, who’s based in Scotland, is a rigger/erector and crane guy by trade who’s worked around the world supervising large-scale bridge and road construction projects.

And it’s his background and experience doing that sort of work in harsh environments around the world that led him to thinking about how to protect an injured worker on a job site until emergency medical services could arrive. Rodgers also saw a need for motorist traveling in the sometimes (OK, frequent!) harsh weather conditions found in the UK:

On average there are around 800 fatalities or serious injuries on UK motorway hard shoulders each year. The Governments advice is to leave the vehicle and move to a safe place behind the barrier or at the top of the verge. No mention of adverse weather condition options.

Rodgers’ answer was to develop the RIGLOO [a portable and easily deployable tent-like device] that maintains body heat as it is a fully sealed unit which makes it ideal if you take a tumble on a hillside and have to wait for assistance from a SAR [Search and Rescue] team.

And that eventually led Rodgers to think “This might be a very useful piece of equipment for search and rescue organizations and emergency medical services.” And that’s when Rodgers reached out to me via LinkedIn.

It was after looking at the RIGLOO website, and having a virtual meeting with Rodgers, that I had that “Why didn’t I think of that?” moment. Out of that meeting came a couple of blogs, Control the environment and you control the outcome and the follow-up piece, 6 Reasons Why Pre-Hospital Care Providers Need the RESCUER from RIGLOO, that I wrote for Rodgers and RIGLOO to use in promoting the RESCUER.

The RESCUER from Rigloo can be deployed in less than a minute. It’s removable floor can be quickly detached enabling rescuers to place the RESCUER over their victim without moving them!

Since the advent of prehospital care, regardless of the country, pre-hospital patient care providers (e.g., EMTs, paramedics., firefighters, rescue technicians) have lamented the fact that their ability to provide the necessary patient care was different because they worked in an uncontrolled environment, unlike those health care providers in the Emergency Department. And, truth be known, probably just as many of those pre-hospital patient care providers viewed the situation as a “Badge of Honor.”

But that’s about to change dramatically with the introduction of the RESCUER from RIGLOO. Because the innovative and groundbreaking RESCUER is the game changer that’s going to enable pre-hospital patient care providers worldwide to control their environment.
